Trump in Atlanta with BTP and NBC News Katy Tur | Atlanta, GA

Atlanta Video Crew with NBC News

When Donald Trump came to Atlanta for one of his rallies on the campaign trail, Ben Traylor Productions was there with NBC News. The day started early, real early. The video crew got on site around 4:30AM. The even was held at the Fox Theatre in downtown Atlanta. When you cover high profile political events you have to get there early so the Secret Service can check all your video equipment. First they let you in so you can set up, then they kick you out so they can check your gear. They’ll open up your bags but they also use dogs. After about a 2-3 hour wait, they’ll let you back in after you go through security. Usually you’ll walk through a scanner and they’ll pat you down. Then you wait another hour or two for the politician to speak.

NBC News’ Katy Tur was the correspondent for the shoot. The crew used two dimmable LED panels to light Tur and Ben used his trusty Panasonic HDX 900. The great thing about dimmable LED’s is you can expose the talent for the background in challenging lighting situations. On this shoot Tur was standing in front of the stage and the stage was very bright. In between Tur and the stage was the crowd which was very dark. Ben exposed Tur enough to see the crowd but also not to blow out (over expose) the stage setting. You can check out the live shots throughout the day by watching the montage below.
